Riley and Adam’s story began in the fall of 2022, when both happened to be in Florida during their college break. Adam had flown in from West Virginia, while Riley made the trip from Tennessee with her college friends, who, as it turns out, had gone to high school with Adam. They introduced the two, planting the seed for what would eventually become something much more. At the time, though, the connection didn’t fully spark. Adam followed Riley on Instagram after the weekend commenced, but Riley never saw the request, leaving Adam to spend an entire year convinced he had been “ghosted.” Fast forward to fall break 2023, when fate (and a little better timing) brought them back to the same place in Florida. This time, everything clicked. Riley and Adam spent the weekend together laughing, talking, and getting to know each other in a way they hadn’t before. One of their favorite memories is talking for hours while floating on a paddleboard on a quiet lake, late into the night. Somewhere between the long conversations and easy laughter, the spark they had missed the year before finally caught fire. When Adam jokingly mentioned the long-lost Instagram follow, Riley couldn’t believe she had missed it and still insists they might have started dating a year earlier if she had seen it. But as they both now know, everything unfolded exactly when it was meant to, all in God's timing. After that weekend, Riley returned to Tennessee and Adam to West Virginia—but this time, they stayed connected. Instagram follows turned into texts, texts into FaceTime calls, and soon, into plans to see each other again. In November 2023, Riley and a friend made the trip to West Virginia to watch Adam play with his college basketball team. It was during that trip that Adam asked Riley to be his girlfriend. And the rest, as they say, is history.
