The Match Like many great modern romances, our story began on Tinder. It was May 2022. Adam sent the first message. It was an opening line that was definitely memorable, but one that we will absolutely not be repeating in our wedding vows (sorry, Grandma). Despite the bold opener, the chemistry was undeniable. We spent three days texting non-stop before deciding it was time to see if the spark translated to real life. The First Date On May 20, 2022, Adam drove to pick Natalie up for a classic date night at the Malta Drive-In. As Natalie hopped into the passenger seat of a stranger’s car, she decided to break the ice with complete honesty. She looked at him and said, "My mom said please don't kill me." Adam laughed, Natalie relaxed, and they headed to the movies. To this day, they couldn't tell you what was on the screen. Google says it was likely Doctor Strange or Downton Abbey, but they wouldn't know. Adam and Natalie talked the entire drive there, talked over the entire movie, and talked the entire way back. The drive home is where Adam really sealed the deal in two very different ways. First, Natalie was incredibly impressed that he navigated her home without using GPS after only being there once. It was a total "green flag" moment. Then came the flashing lights. Yes, on their very first date, Adam got pulled over. But this is where they learned they made a great team. While he was sweating it, she leaned over and casually chatted with the officer by name-dropping some local police she knew. Natalie successfully talked him out of the ticket, and they both realized that there was something special here. The Soundtrack & The Saratoga Tour After that first night, the Drive-In became their spot. Adam and Natalie went back every weekend and happily paid the admission fee just to sit in the car and ignore the movie so they could talk. Eventually, they realized it didn't make much financial sense to pay for movies they weren't watching. For their third date, Natalie switched things up and gave Adam the "Locals Only" tour of Saratoga to show him all her favorite spots. They didn't need a specific "aha!" moment to know this was real because they were exclusive pretty much immediately. Adam and Natalie bonded over a deep love of music and spent nights trading their favorite tracks. Natalie quickly learned that many of the songs she loved were actually covers, and Adam took great joy in introducing her to the original versions.
Fast forward to one of our trips to Speculator, NY. Natalie had a hunch a ring was coming soon, but Adam still managed to keep her on her toes. Natalie woke up that morning with a terrible sore throat. Adam was being sweet, and also a little suspicious, and offered to go make a solo run to a local spot to get her a hot apple cider. She asked him to grab food too, but he refused. It was weird, but she later learned he was using that time to set the stage. When he came back, he Natalie if she felt up to grabbing breakfast. He insisted they eat at the pavilion at the town beach. Mind you, it was about 30 degrees out. Natalie was freezing while eating her sandwich in the cold and thinking, Are you kidding me? After breakfast, Adam asked if she wanted to scout some spots on the beach for "proposal photos" they were planning to take later that weekend when their friend Mickey arrived. Natalie was looking out at the water, shivering. When she turned back around, Adam was down on one knee in the sand next to a sign that read "Marry Me?" It wasn't a time for tears. It was a time for celebration. Natalie said "Yes" immediately. They called their families, forgot about the cold, and started the next chapter of their lives. Adam and Natalie are so excited that a simple swipe on an app led them here, and they can’t wait to celebrate the start of their forever with all of you!
