We matched on Tinder during Covid. We had many ‘invisible strings’ and mutual connections. We hit it off immediately. In most ways, we’re complete opposites and have a yin and yang energy, yet we also have similar core values and appreciation for our family and friends. In the most cliche way, we really are best friends in love!
Sometimes, the best love stories start with a swipe right – especially when fate seems to have a bigger plan in mind. During the height of Covid, when the world felt like it was standing still, the pair matched on Tinder while each spending time with their families at Lake of the Ozarks. As they started talking, they discovered an almost suspicious number of connections: both Kansas City natives, shared friend circles, and – in true small-world fashion – Morgan's childhood friend , Leah, came from the same small town as Adam’s dad – and her uncle was his dad, Doug’s groomsmen. When they finally met in person back in KC, their first date was a home-cooked meal (thanks, Covid!) featuring Adam's from-scratch carnitas and guacamole. While they instantly clicked like best friends, there was one tiny wrinkle in their budding romance: Morgan was planning to move to LA for work once "Covid was over." But something told her to stick around and see where this might lead. Both passionate travelers, they decided to put their relationship to the ultimate test with a trip to San Diego. The mission? Morgan needed to meet Adam's oldest brother Josh, and Adam needed to meet Morgan's best friend Jilly – the final two members of our inner circles yet to give their stamp of approval. Not only did they pass these tests with flying colors, but San Diego also became the backdrop for their first "I love you." Fast forward through plot twists worthy of a rom-com: Morgan landed a 100% remote job (universe sending signals?), Adam bought a house and they moved in together. They spent their first year of cohabitation completely renovating the house – with absolutely no arguments whatsoever. (Wink, wink!) In 2021, they welcomed their dog Diego, named as a nod to the city where they first said those three little words. After attending what felt like countless weddings as guests (26 to be exact), it was finally their turn. During a trip to northern California for Jilly's wedding, they planned to visit Monterey, where Josh was supposed to be stationed – bringing their story full circle. Adam orchestrated the perfect proposal in Big Sur, complete with breathtaking views and a "hidden" photographer. In classic Morgan fashion, she might have suspected something was up, but the moment was no less magical. Even the notorious Big Sur fog played along, clearing just in time for the big moment after completely obscuring our pre-proposal dinner view. From a serendipitous dating app match to renovating an old house into their own home, their story is proof that sometimes the best plans are the ones that change – especially when they lead you exactly where you're meant to be.
