How We Met

11/19/2016

We have mutual friends who were dating at the time (now engaged, too!) that decided to set us up. After a couple of months of texting each other and McKenzie refusing to accept a date with Adam, we finally met up for a double date with our friends. Despite Adam showing up 40 minutes late, due to him watching a Bison game, of course, we happily fell hard and fast. We have been inseparable ever since. We both "knew" were each-other's person. After 6 months of dating, we both uprooted ourselves and moved to the same town-Fargo- and moved in together! Today, we are more in love than ever and we are both excited for our love to continue to grow!

The Proposal

2/3/2018

Adam had the luxury to have a flexible work schedule allowing him to create his own days. He had to go to the Fergus area for "business" one afternoon last February. Little did McKenzie know that majority of that afternoon had to deal with the set up of Adam's master plan to make McKenzie his Bride forever. Adam met his Dad (Bill) at the lake cabin in Battle Lake, MN. There he had shared his idea of the proposal. The plan was to hang Christmas lights in the trees, on the railing down to the lake, and to write 'Marry Me?' on the frozen lake below. After several boxes of white Christmas lights from the local dollar store, buried extension cords all over the yard connecting to one switch the 'Ask' was all set. Now... to get McKenzie to the lake without letting the surprise slip. There was an event that was held on Ottertail lake involving many activities such as sleigh and dog sled rides, ice fishing and concerts from some local bands. We bundled up and headed to the lake for a fun filled afternoon/evening. Adam made an excuse that they had to head back to the cabin to check on something for Bill. We pulled up to the cabin and McKenzie didn't want to get out of the car. "Just do what you gotta do. It's nice and warm in here..." Adam convinced her that he needed her help and they proceeded to the steps leading down to the water. Adam had told his Mom a key word to listen for so she can flip the master switch turning everything on. The key word was said, the lights shown beautifully in the trees and on the lake, the plan was executed! McKenzie a little confused says nervously "Adam, is this happening right now...?!" Yes Kenz, it is. And since you're reading this story in preparation for our big event you can assume her answer! YES!
