While Adam was picking out names from a "Looking for Games" board in November of 2019, an ad for a gaming group caught his eye. By sheer happenstance, an old grad school friend of Matthew’s invited him to join the same board game group. Adam and Matthew met that month, and formed an instant bond. In March of 2020, the world closed down, but Adam and Matthew couldn’t keep apart. They began dating during the chaotic summer of 2020, and when the world opened back up, the first thing they did was move in together. Now four years later, the world is a very different place, but their love is still on the same adventure.

Adam was born in Olympia, Washington to Forest and Amy Sutmiller. He grew up with his younger sister, Sara, and later graduated from River Ridge High School. Adam attended college at Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington, where he received his undergraduate degree in Math with a minor in Music. After being offered a job in the U.S. Census Bureau, he moved to the DMV area in February of 2017 where he's lived since.

Matthew was born in Fort Worth, Texas to Michael and Flora Brewer. After a youthful dalliance with music, Matthew graduated from Oberlin College and moved to Washington, DC in 2013. In 2016, Matthew received his graduate degree from Johns Hopkins and began working in government.
