Visit the bride’s hometown — “the sunny side of the Bay” — Oakland! Ranked “#1 Best Food City” in Condé Nast Traveler 2024, you will be spoiled for choice with places to eat in “The Town”. Learn more about the radical history of this city at Oakland Museum of California or experience the buzz for yourself by taking a walk around Oakland’s Lake Merritt. Ask the bride and groom for suggestions to tailor make your trip to Oakland! The bride and groom recommend: A romantic dinner for 2 at Belotti Ristorante (College Ave). Reservations required.
As soon as the bride and groom first set foot in The Pelican Inn, they knew it would be their wedding venue. Despite its location, tucked away in the folds of rolling hills along California’s coastline, The Pelican Inn captures the spirit of 16th century England in more ways than one. Enjoy a proper pint at its Tudor style bar. Play a game of darts. Sit out on the lawn, where the bride and groom will tie the knot, or warm up by the fire in the dining room with a healthy serving of bangers and mash, fish and chips, or shepherd's pie. The bride and groom think of The Pelican Inn as the perfect blend of their British and Californian heritage, and they can’t wait to welcome you here!
A short and scenic trail connects The Pelican Inn to Muir Beach, one of the Bay Area’s most beloved beaches. While Northern California beaches are notoriously colder and windier than their Southern California counterparts, there is still plenty to enjoy about the quiet coves of Northern California. Local favorite, Muir Beach, is a great place to start or end your journey should you seek to explore Marin County during your stay. Treat yourself to a picnic by the Pacific before or after hiking one of the many trails accessible from the Muir Beach Trailhead. If you have something more relaxing in mind, try warming up by the fire, roasting marshmallows, and making S’mores at one of the beach’s fire circles. If you’re short on time, the Muir Beach Overlook is a great spot for a quick photo op.
Visit one of California’s National Parks! Muir Woods National Monument is an old growth forest, with the average age of its coastal redwoods dating between 600 - 800 years old, though some are believed to be over 1000 years old. Learn more about these large live trees and the other animals and plants that inhabit this forest during your stay. Reservations required.
Check out the shops and eateries in Mill Valley. Start your day off with breakfast at the Shoreline Coffee Shop or grab a light bite and a single-origin coffee or tea at Equator Coffees. Get some new digs and check out the boards at Proof Lab Station & Surf Shop, or browse the racks at Vintage Ruse (“Tam Junktion”). Bring home a plant from the California Native Plant Nursery, or treat yourself to locally and sustainably sourced fish tacos at the neighboring Hook Fish Co. (at Proof Lab Beer Garden). If you’re not one for seafood, end your day with pizza and a local selection of beer and cider at The Junction Beer Garden. The bride recommends: The Depot Café and Bookstore.
If you’re looking for a picture perfect California beach, look no further than the white sands of Stinson Beach. To get to Stinson Beach, take the 15 minute scenic drive along California’s Highway 1 from Muir Beach or The Pelican Inn.
