After we realized we had no idea how to read a trolley map, we accidentally ended up at the NOMA. Despite it not being our original destination, we absolutely loved all it had to offer!
Adam loves aquariums, and this one is one of his favorite! Maddie enjoyed the Parakeet Room...somewhat less.
Enough of the macabre to make Maddie's creepy little goth heart happy
24/7 casino means the shiny lights of the slot machines beckon to you even after a long night on Bourbon Street. Chances are, Maddie will be there playing a cat-themed slot machine at 4 am while Adam debates joining a table game.
Whether it's for a morning breakfast or a late-night snack, if you don't try the famous beignets, did you even go to New Orleans?!
Home of Nic Cage's white pyramid mausoleum and the resting place of Marie Laveau, this is the cemetery you'll want to tour (if you're as in to that kind of thing as we are). You'll need a guide to access the cemetery, and we highly recommend doing it as part of the mule tour, which you can find on Decatur near Cafe Du Monde.
No phones. No bright lights. No real signage except a small wooden one outside a narrow alleyway that goes over a small bridge. Opening at 9 pm, The Dungeon is where the goth kids go.
The "good" tattoo shop on Frenchman Street, not to be confused with the other one. This is where Adam got his NOLA travel tattoo, and Maddie got pierced.
If you'd prefer your trip to be a bit more on the educational side, the WWII museum can not be recommended enough.
This is where Adam and Maddie ATTEMPTED to go when they ended up at the NOMA
Whilst technically outside New Orleans, Cajun Encounters offers a complimentary shuttle bus to the swamp for the tour, and is easily bookable either online, or via their stand on Decatur Street. Maddie has gone twice!
One of the oldest operating bars in America, and a great spot for frozen drinks!
Literally the best redfish. Period.
You want to eat here. Adam wants to eat here. Adam may actually still have dreams about the pork chops here.
Fantastic choice for a romantic date night evening
Chances are pretty high that Maddie is going to ride a mechanical bull while still in her wedding dress here.
Get here early, because the rotating bar only has sixteen seats, and you WILL want to sit specifically at the Carousel Bar.
NOLA-style comfort food in a fun atmosphere
An arcade and a bar in one location? Sold. Maddie first got to play the Star Wars Battle Pod here
