The Wedding Website of Adam Van Noy and Kristen Mei Kuk Mun
About the Venue Camp Pālehua (formerly Camp Timberline) holds a special place in Kristen's heart. Not only are we back on her home island but also revisiting her field trip campgrounds where she and many other island residents hold fond memories. The camp grounds have recently been renovated and since the name change also under new ownership. For our special celebration we rented out the entire property so that we could bring our family to this special place and disconnect from the world for a while.
Question

What to expect:

Answer

The living and sleeping conditions are best described as "very rustic", so just prepare yourselves to be out in nature. For most of the family staying overnight with us, there is a brand-new bunkhouse building for everyone to stay in. Communal / shared bathrooms and living corridor area. Rooms comfortably fit 4 people in each.

Question

Will there be other people at the campground (other than our party)?

Answer

No, we will be essentially the only ones on the property, aside from the campground staff who are there for any of our needs.

Question

Are children welcome?

Answer

Yes! This is, in fact a family celebration!

Question

Will we be indoors or outdoors?

Answer

The ceremony and reception will be outdoors and we expect warm August weather throughout the weekend! If the weather turns unnaturally cold or wet, we can gather under the pavilion or conference room.

Question

What do I wear?

Answer

The weather in August is expected to be warm and dry. The average temperature ranges from 75˚–85˚F. We will be outside on grass and there are dirt paths throughout the campground. Dress in your nice summer outfits, although there is no need to bring your best formal wear.

Question

Will there be internet / WiFi there?

Answer

No, there will not be any internet access for our guests on the camp grounds. Feel free to disconnect for a while with us!

Question

Will there be cell phone coverage at the campgrounds?

Answer

We have found that most phone carriers don't send/receive signals at this altitude. If you are lucky you may get some minor spotty coverage.

Question

What about alcohol?

Answer

Because the rules of the camp state that nobody can leave to drive down the mountain while alcohol is being served, this will be a dry event (at least for the reception).

Question

Parking:

Answer

There is a main parking lot that will hold a decent amount of vehicles. We do encourage folks to carpool up the mountain if possible.

Question

Accessability:

Answer

For our Kapuna (elderly) and other family members that need help getting from the parking lot to the upper field for the ceremony, there will be staff in golf carts to assist. Please let us know if you have any needs prior to arriving and we will make sure you are comfortable!

Question

I'm from out of town. Do I need a car to get around Oahu?

Answer

Yes, we recommend renting a car from the Honolulu International Airport to be able to get around the island.

Question

Where is the main airport on Oahu?

Answer

The main airport is Honolulu International Airport (HNL) and you'll be flying into there. The drive from the airport to the wedding venue is about 45 minutes in normal traffic.

Question

What if I want to leave camp and go to a beach?

Answer

There are so many great beaches just a short drive away! Ko Olina Resort is a 25 minute drive away, with multiple lagoons for swimming. The beautiful, historic North Shore is less than an hour away. If you want to go on an adventure and take a scenic drive on the H3, you can check out Adam's favorite: Kailua Beach Park on the east side of the island.

Question

I have questions! Who do I contact?
