Things To Do

Belle Isle/Brown's Island/James River

Tredegar Street, Richmond, VA 23219

The James River runs right through downtown Richmond - it's such a cool spot as there are many walking bridges connecting the north bank to the southside of the river. We have spent quite a bit of time on the river relaxing and walking throughout their relationship.

Hollywood Cemetery

412 South Cherry Street, Richmond, VA 23220
, (804) 648-8501

Cemetery along the river in the historic Oregon Hill neighborhood with many historical figures buried on site including two US presidents.

Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden

1800 Lakeside Avenue, Henrico, VA 23228
, (804) 262-9887

Lewis Ginter is a beautiful place featuring many gorgeous sites as well as some kid-friendly activities and exhibits.

Maymont

2201 Shields Lake Drive, Richmond, VA 23220
, (804) 358-7166

We took our engagement photos here - absolutely beautiful park in Richmond where we have enjoyed spending time over the years.

The Poe Museum

1914 East Main Street, Richmond, VA 23223
, (804) 648-5523

Great spot to learn more about Edgar Allan Poe - Katie's brother and sister-in-law checked it out back in '17 and really enjoyed it!

Virginia Museum of Fine Arts

200 North Arthur Ashe Boulevard, Richmond, VA 23220
, (804) 340-1400

The VMFA has consistently been voted one of the top ten art museums in the United States. Their general collection is free to the public, and they also have a number of exhibits that come through the museum. The lawn is beautiful to enjoy as well. *The VMFA is right in the fan and museum district right next to Carytown which is another great spot to visit in Richmond.

Center of the Universe Brewing Company

11293 Air Park Road, Ashland, VA 23005
, (804) 368-0299

COTU is an Ashland staple. We recommend trying Brewski or Pocahoptus.

Final Gravity Brewing Company

6118 Lakeside Avenue, Richmond, VA 23228
, (804) 264-4808

Final Gravity is one of the top breweries in the Richmond area with some of the best IPAs Katie has ever tasted. Half of their menu is IPAs, but they do a good job of catering to other beer drinkers as well. We recommend Doppler Effect, any hazy IPA, Fire Station 5 Amber Ale, and Irish Goodbye Stout.

James River Cellars Winery

11008 Washington Highway, Glen Allen, VA 23059
, (804) 550-7516

James River Cellars is the closest winery to our wedding festivities, and they often have live music to enjoy as well.

Origin Beer Lab

106 South Railroad Avenue, Ashland, VA 23005
, (804) 299-2389

Origin is the testing ground for COTU, so you can have some fun tasting unique beers you will never try again.

El Zocalo Mexican Restaurant

13271 Hanover Courthouse Road, Hanover, VA 23069
, (804) 913-9561

Highly recommended Mexican in the Ashland/Haover area.

Industrial Taphouse

10392 Leadbetter Road, Ashland, VA 23005
, (804) 299-2649

Amazing food and a great selection of beer - right in the neighborhood of COTU and the wedding festivities.

Marty's Grill

9357 Atlee Road, Mechanicsville, VA 23116
, (804) 559-1323

Great spot for either bar fare or breakfast. Fun atmosphere and good service.

The Caboose Market & Cafe

108 South Railroad Avenue, Ashland, VA 23005
, (804) 798-2933

Small plates served from local farms. Great spot for a light bite to eat. It also has a fantastic market at the front of the building with some great alcohol and food finds.
