There he was, tall, nerdy, and handsome. There she was. Also tall, a little less nerdy, and very anxious. It all started with a hug in Holly's 11th-grade history class. Adam made it his mission to comfort her as she cried over some silly writing assignment. Who was this lanky boy, and did he hug every damsel in distress? Holly made it her mission to captivate the boy, flirting with him at football games and coercing him to bake cookies for her annual Christmas party. It wasn't long before she decided nice guys weren't realistic and left Adam in the dust- poor guy. Much to Holly's dismay, Adam proceeded to go to college as a newly graduated heart-throb. Like they say- you always want what you can't have. So despite their melodramatic high school romance, they remained friends through Adam's freshman year at Mercer University. The first summer he came home from school was filled with a thriving friendship including mini golf, walks on the beach, movies until 3 am, singing in the car, sharing Rita's Ice, and a long-awaited kiss on St. Augustine Pier under a meteor shower (yes it's true- and it did feel like a fairytale). The next day Adam went back to college, and suddenly they were in a long-distance relationship. Adam and Holly made long-distance look easy (most of the time...HAHA). Frequent Facetime dates, and trips between Mercer and UF, distance really did make the heart grow fonder. Adam's first job out of college was in Colorado, and a decision had to be made- either keep up the long distance or make a move. Amidst home-sicknesses and adjusting to the new "non-long distance relationship" Adam and Holly's relationships flourished as they pursued new depths of their relationship through faith, friends, and hobbies. After a year of skiing, hiking, rock climbing, and giving birth to our first son Beans, nothing made more sense than committing to forever. That's when Adam not-so-sneakily purchased (the most glorious) ring just days before the family trip to North Carolina- and just DAYS before their favorite hike, the ring arrived. Safely hidden, Adam carried that ring up Grandfather Mountain on a foggy gloomy day, said a lot of really nice things, and asked Holly to be his wife. Yes, yes, a million times yes. Now and forever.
