One of our favorite spots in Minneapolis! Midtown has lots of different restaurants that will fits everyone's tastes and there are neat little stores here too. Adam and Greta's favorites: Tacos from La Lloma or Los Ocampo, gyro from Holy Land, tortas from Manny's.
Spend some time in Prospect Park's park, called Tower Hill. Greta and Adam live in the big blue house across the street from the park. The watertower in the park can be seen from miles around and is said to be the inspiration for Bob Dylan's song All Along The Watchtower.
A wonderful old fashioned candy store with lots of great treats. Be sure to check out the homemade popcorn, especially the Chicago mix!
Very neat old building in the heart of Downtown Saint Paul. While there check out Mears Park across the street or the James J. Hill Library on the other side of the park.
Fireside is about 40 minutes South of the Twin Cities, but if you're looking for a fun outside adventure, Fireside has lots of apples, apple treats, and shows you a taste of Northfield, where Greta lived when she worked at Carleton.
Tacos El Kevin was a pandemic discovery for us and hands down one of our all time favorite taco places in Minneapolis. Heads up that there's minimal indoor seating, but there are tables outside and a park just a few blocks away with picnic tables.
The University of Minnesota Twin Cities is where Greta currently works and where Adam earned his PhD. The campus is right in the heart of Minneapolis and is a common go-to spot for Adam and Greta when they're looking to go out to eat or for drinks. If you visit, keep an eye out for Weaver-Densford Hall where Greta works and for the Social Sciences building on West Bank, where Adam spent his grad school days. Recommended food places: Afro Deli or Hong Kong Noodles.
If it's nice out, consider taking a walk along Mississippi River Boulevard AKA River Road. Both the Minneapolis and Saint Paul sides are beautiful. Adam lived close to Lake St. and 41st Avenue on the Minneapolis side for many years and Greta and Adam would commonly take walks along the river.
Mall of American is a good option if the weather isn't so great. There are lots of stores and restaurants and plenty of entertaining people watching. You can get to the Mall of America easily on the lightrail via the blue line.
Not a place anyone is likely to trek out to as Morris is three hours away from the cities, but UMN Morris is where Greta and Adam went to undergrad, met, became friends and then eventually started dating many years later. This awesome little school on the prairie brought both Greta and Adam lifelong friendships, amazing classes, teachers and mentors, and a pretty great relationship too. Fun fact: Our officiant Jillian worked as an admissions counselor at Morris and recruited both Greta and Adam to the school, so she deserves some credit for making our day happen.
