Adam and Emma first met December 2019 Edinburgh, Scotland. Adam, on a trip from Canada with his brother and good friend. Emma, who had just moved to the city to pursue her career in nursing, out enjoying the Christmas markets with one of her best friends. Amidst the live music at Waverly Station, both groups would meet and this would be Emma and Adam's first encounter. After an evening of getting to know each other, questionable dance moves and one too many baby guinesses, Adam messaged Emma the following morning to ask her out on a date to what is now one of their favorite coffee spots, 'The Milkman'. After a handful of successful dates, Adam's trip came to an end and both parted ways. They reflected on how well they had got on in such a short space of time and so they continued to check in on each other, updating one another on how life was going. Uncertain of how a relationship could even occur with so much distance between them, their messages turned into long calls and then slowly into regular facetimes. Their relationship progressed quickly, but the world had other plans for them, covid 19 hit in 2020 putting an abrupt hold on any potential plans to meet up. Making the best of a bad situation, they used this time to continue to get to know one another. Virtual encounters was the new 'normal' for the world, and so the relationship continued to blossom. With a lot of planning and determination, they managed to finally reunite in Slovenia August 2020 where they spent two weeks exploring the country, trying local foods, hiking and most importantly, appreciating each others company. With the challenges of a long distance relationship ongoing with no end in sight, Emma took a leap of faith and decided to visit Adam in Canada February 2021. After two weeks of quarantine together, Adam was quick to show Emma around Ontario and introduce her to his family, friends and all the 'must see's' Ontario had to offer. Months went by and with the uncertainty of when they would be able to meet again, Emma decided to apply for a working holiday visa to allow her to remain with Adam for longer in Canada. Fast forward 4 years, Emma and Adam remain by each others side in Ontario. Through a multitude of obstacles from covid 19, immigration hurdles, nursing exams and recent health scares, they have always continued to persevere and work as a team. Between their busy schedules from plumbing and nursing, they always make time for each other. Their days off together usually consist of long walks, working out, trying new coffee spots, exploring small towns and (to Adam's delight) playing a round of 18 holes of golf! We are so happy that all these challenges have led us to this moment where we can finally bring all the people we love from two countries together in one place. Your presence means the world to us and we cannot wait to celebrate with you all. Love Adam and Emma.
