Our Story

Sky-High Living and Impossible Turns

Deborah and Adam were work friends for four years before they began dating. They even sat across from each other for 12 months; Deborah doesn’t remember that detail. The two obsessed over ClassPass schedules and rate hikes, were in the same book club, exchanged music playlists, and shared links to their favorite sneakers. Fast forward to a post-holiday-party confession from Adam, followed by some meatless Korean BBQ, and, a fortnight later, a post-workout text from Deborah that resulted in a date that same day (for the curious: Sweet & Vicious, Wildair, and Insomnia Cookies). That first date resulted in a first kiss at the Broadway-Lafeyette stop. They were then cruelly forced to watch each other across the platform as Deb headed back to Brooklyn and Adam headed back to the Upper West Side. This was January 2017. In April 2017, at this point having a feeling that he would never want to head in opposite directions again, Adam moved to Brooklyn. Deborah moved in with him in September and promptly made him join the Park Slope Food Co-op. He can now name at least nine different apple varieties and can also tell you that those tomatoes you’ve been eating all winter most definitely aren’t in season. September 2018: Adam created a picture book titled: "Book Two: A Year of Sky-High Living and Impossible Turns" that demonstrates just how much fun they’ve had and continue to have. He used this book to propose in Asheville, NC. Why Asheville, you ask? The two have traveled the world over, from Tuscany to Tel Aviv, from London to Berlin, from Fort Lauderdale to Seattle. And yet, their favorite vacation destination thus far has been Pittsburgh, PA. Give them parks, beer, art, music, and hiking and they're all set. Overcome with emotion, he was barely able to pop the question, but she said yes anyways. For the rest of the story, come over and read the book.
