Adam and Darian matched on Tinder in August of 2019. On September 28th, 2019 Adam came to the Ferris State Homecoming game with his step brother, Nick, where Darian was also attending with her roommate, Lauren. They met up during halftime, ended up talking throughout the rest of the game, and went out with friends afterwards. The next Monday, Adam came back to Big Rapids and took Darian on their first official date to Raven Brewing. After several weeks of talking and hanging out, Adam asked Darian to be his girlfriend on November, 1st, 2019. The two maintained a long distance relationship while Adam lived and worked in Ludington, MI and Darian finished nursing school at Ferris State University. In January of 2021 they rescued their first dog, Max, to join Darian's cat who is also named Max. After Darian graduated nursing school in May 2021 the two moved into Adam's family farmhouse in Scottville, MI. Darian began working in the Ludington ER and Adam now splits his time between working on the farm and working at Ludington Bay Brewing Co. Since moving in together, they have acquired another cat, Nelson, and two more dogs, Goose and Oakley. Even with all of their animals they still find time to travel and take part in their various shared hobbies!

In late March 2023 Adam had the ring shipped to their house, two weeks before he popped the question. The ring was delivered while Adam was working at the brewery, so Darian had to unknowingly sign for the package containing her own ring. Two weeks later, Adam met Darian at a work event downtown Ludington and agreed to walk down the Ludington Pier for sunset as Darian had been asking to do for weeks. At the end of the pier Adam got down on one knee and asked Darian to marry him. Coincidentally, a local musician was playing his ukelele at the end of the pier while his friend was filming. They happened to catch footage of Adam proposing!
