Fun fact: Carlsbad is Tony Hawk’s hometown and home to one of the world’s first skateparks.
Downtown Encinitas
Fun fact: Blink-182's album Dude Ranch was recorded in five weeks during the winter of 1996-1997 at Big Fish Studios in Encinitas.
Balboa Park
Fun fact: various scenes from the Will Ferrell movie, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, were filmed in Balboa Park.
Old Town
Fun fact: Old Town is considered the birthplace of California, and it’s just down the road from Pechanga Arena, where Almost Famous filmed its concert scenes and Kate Hudson had her breakout role. P.S. while you’re in Old Town, make sure to grab some authentic Mexican food.
Gaslamp Quarter in Downtown San Diego and Little Italy
Fun fact: Veronica Mars filmed several scenes in downtown San Diego, including the “Neptune Grand” hotel, which is really the Hilton in the Gaslamp Quarter. P.S. check out M Winehouse in Little Italy where we had our first date.
La Jolla Cove
Fun fact: La Jolla Playhouse is where Jersey Boys and The Who’s Tommy premiered before becoming major Broadway hits.
