Yes, since Crown Heights is an orthodox Jewish neighborhood, it is respectful to dress modestly according to the below guidelines: The community has a standard of modest dress for men and women, but that does not mean you have to wear black or look unattractive! Modest dress can be fun, beautiful, and colorful while being classy and unostentatious. For women, guidelines for modest dress include high cut shirts with no cleavage, skirts or dresses to the knees or longer, and sleeves to the elbow. Sleeved shirts, cardigans or sweaters can be paired with sleeveless dresses for a modest and beautiful outfit! For men, guidelines for modest dress include a head covering (this could be a yarmulke or any hat that covers the top of one’s head), pants, and a shirt with sleeves.
The dress code for the wedding is semi-formal to formal. For men: suit and tie (tie optional) with a head covering. Please plan on wearing comfortable shoes as there will be a little bit of walking and a lot of dancing! There is a walk of approximately two blocks from the hall to the chupah, and a little less than an hour of standing by the chupah.
