We accidentally bumped into one another on the corner of 21st street in Virginia Beach. Since that night we talked almost every single second we could. We honestly didn’t think much of it, but the weekend of the 15th, we spent the ENTIRE weekend together learning about one another. I was dancing to Hozier in his living room and He came in, hugged me and kissed me while "Cherry Wine" was playing. Eventually the song ended, but we were still dancing. We were harmonizing by accident. That’s when we both felt it; “Okay. This could be something.”
Now to find this story funny, you need to realize a little bit about our relationship. We plan for BIG and complex but we always end up SIMPLE but still happy even though we're like "this situations gatta be big or we will be disappointed." It was the night of my birthday. We didn't have much planned, other than a "surprise" party Adam had for me in our apartment. I went to shower to get ready for whatever festivities that were about to happen while my best friend Chris also got ready. Adam said he was going to take the trash out. He was out for a good hour and a half, and I was like dude... what in the world? Where's Adam? Adam came home with some cake mix. I was kind of upset because people where at the house wanting food, drinks- helllllllo it's a birthday party!?! Anyway, in the middle of me being upset that he left me stranded with not knowing why everyone was at my house, and then no cake or anything **it's still my birthday, a card would do?** He opens a TARGET bag and says, "let's bake a cake, I bought your favorite, funfetti!" So at first I said no with my hands folded, but eventually I gave in. Now, I go to bake this cake but the flippin box is open? Ewe. I don't want a box of cake mix that was already open- like sheesh Adam. you're cheap AND don't pay attention to details? So I see a card in there and I'm like... oh? I read this card and it was way better than a card that just said happy birthday. It was really awesome because at the end it said, "Meet me in the Courts Monday, Mrs. Mack." I was so confused. So I pulled the bag of mix and at the bottom of the box i saw A BRIDAL SET! Everyone was so surprised!! I was so shocked! He asked me to marry him that night! :)
Oliver Henry Mack entered our lives and that was it. No matter how bad things got, or stressful, we always made sure Oliver was number one. Through the mutual love for our child, we fell more and more in love. We learned forgiveness, patience, and grace from God. Our lives were so messy, but through our child, we surrendered our lives to GOD, and have been living as Disciples of Christ. It took A LOT of wrestling with our hearts but we are so thankful for Oliver and how God spoke to us through him. He is the joy of our lives!
Until recently we've been living for ourselves and not God. We went under time and time again because we figured we knew everything ourselves and building our foundation on sand and not on solid rock- which would be God. We've been attending Manna Church and have been so blessed. We've seen the grace of God before our eyes and we needed to give back to God all the good he's done and all the nonsense he's pulled us out of, even if we turned our backs time and time again. We took a leap of faith and decided to live separately before we get married, involve ourselves in Christian Premarital Counseling and really devote our time apart to being apart of His Word, and in prayer! With that said, we came up with a game plan to get married on CINCO DE MAYO! We wanted to share our day with anyone who wants to come. It's as casual as can be and because it's Cinco De Mayo, we want bright, fun, and comfortable attire. We will be having a Mexican Fiesta "Reception"- just a whole bunch of celebration of unity, encouragement and hellllllloooooo- a decent sized Hispanic Pot-Luck! Because it's a non-formal wedding and not too much time has been given to plan trips and such, we are planning to do it Facebook live/ record it so anyone can be involved! If you can make it, let us know! Either way you chose to celebrate with us, whether that be attending, joining virtually, giving towards our registry, or sending best wishes and prayers- we are so grateful for your support! Gracias Amigos!
