How We Met

5/17/2013

We met by chance when I was invited out by a mutual friend. We were introduced outside of a parking garage before we began our night out on 6th Street in Austin. Adam was shy for most of the night, however. Towards the end of the night he would loosen up as we talked football. Later that night he walked me to my car and we had our first kiss. We were both students at Texas State University and I would commute to school and to see him for two years. In the winter of 2015 Adam met my three children and later that summer, after he graduated, he moved in with us.

The Proposal

7/12/2018

We announced our engagement on July 12, 2018 while on vacation in Baltimore, MD. Adam's father had given him his great grandmother's diamond ring to give to me. Adam was excited to show me the ring right away, however it did not fit and we decided to get the ring sized properly before telling anyone. While he would have been happy to wait til we returned to Texas, there was no way I was keeping this a secret for longer than I had to! So on Thursday, as soon as we made it back from Washington D.C. we went to the jeweler and picked up my ring and I made an announcement on Facebook. Needless to say, a lot of people were happy for us, including our parents. We also got a ton of "about time" jokes. We are very ready to start this next chapter in our lives. I'm also very thankful that his father chose to hand down the most beautiful ring in the world to Adam because it makes our story that much more special having been in his family for 3 generations now.
