During my last year of college, Kelsey and Carolyn introduced me to some friends who lived downtown. Adam was a part of that group of friends. We headed to a bar downtown one night to meet up with them. Adam approached me because I was off to the side of the group. I was tired and I was thinking about going home. The next day some of my friends noticed that we had a connection during our chat, and they asked if I liked him. I laughed and said that he was just my friend. We spent a lot of time together over the summer, and I quickly decided that he meant more to me than just a friend!
Adam told be that we were going hiking on Sunday before we left for a trip to Jamaica with his family. Adam never plans anything in advance, so I felt like he was up to something. On the car ride to the trail I noticed his pocket had a strange bulge like a box, but I didn't want to assume that it was an engagement ring. He took me to Sweet Water State Park. On the trail we stopped to check out the old abandoned mill. It was a popular spot, so people were crowded around it. He was preoccupied with looking at everyone around us, and I could tell it made him nervous. We hiked down the creek until Adam spotted a rock tucked away right on the water. He climbed up. He turned away from me while I was struggling to get up on the rock! I could tell he was fumbling around in his pocket. Once I got up he turned to me and got on one knee!
