We are working on contacting you all, but in case your coming here wondering if things have changed with the coronavirus, we felt it was important to get an update on here. We had to limit the number of people at the wedding ceremony due to regulations related to covid-19. While we were disappointed, we also understand why it is necessary. We were married in a small intimate ceremony with only our parents on April 25. We feel lucky to not have been required to push back the date of our marriage. We will miss all of our friends and extended families. At this time, we are planning a belated reception/celebration on July 17th. Hopefully you received our e-vite. If for some reason it got lost in your emails, RSVP with your plans to sheafferweddingreception@gmail.com . Thank you all for your support and understanding!
Our story starts the way all great love stories start, with two people swiping through a dating app on their phone. Alright, so it's definitely a 21st century start but we still think it's pretty great. After much pressure from friends, Colleen and Adam both agreed to try the dating app scene. Eventually (February 19th, 2018) , while Colleen was passing time absentmindedly flipping through the app, she came across Adam's profile. He described himself as a combination of Chandler Bing, Nick Miller and Ron Swanson. How could she not be intrigued? She "swiped right" and found out he had as well. "Chandler Bing, Nick Miller, and Ron Swanson are definitely up there on my list of favorite TV characters, so you must be alright," she sent. Adam responded with, "and you're a runner, you like the outdoors, and you like sports...you might be alright as well." After several days of conversation, Colleen was convinced she wanted to meet this guy but was worried he wasn't going to ask. So, she asked him. Then on the day of the date, as Colleen had only adopted Maxine (dog) a little over a month earlier, she struggled leaving her after work...so in true Colleen fashion she showed up over 10 minutes late. Adam claims he thought he had been stood up and almost left, but Colleen made it in time. Colleen meant to stay for one drink, then tell him she had to get back to the pup. She found it so easy to talk to Adam, she stayed for three hours instead. Adam will tell you he knew then he would marry Colleen. It took Colleen about three dates to reach that level of confidence, but she always knew how something felt right when she was with him. After many wonderful dates, happy memories, and arguments on what to eat for dinner, Adam invited Colleen on a hike on May 11th, 2019. After a rainy muddy hike they found the trail to the waterfall where he planned to propose was closed, Adam got down on one knee anyway and asked Colleen to marry him. Spoiler: she said yes.
