The Turkish Lira (TL) is the national currency. The current conversion rate is $1 USD = ₺ 32 TL. We recommend having both cash and card when traveling in Turkey. You can order liras from your bank ahead of time, convert dollars into liras at the airport, or withdraw liras from an ATM. The Istanbul airport has an abundance of currency exchange booths and ATM's, where the rate is comparable (or even better) than what you would receive from your bank.
In Turkey, power plugs and sockets (outlets) of type F are used. The standard voltage is 220 V at a frequency of 50 Hz. Please keep in mind that you will need a converter when traveling and be sure to check the voltage for any items you may bring such as hair styling tools!
The weather in Istanbul during late August ranges between 80 - 90 degrees during the day and around 70 degrees at night.
Both Ubers and taxi's are readily available in Istanbul and are one in the same. Uber offers different types of taxis rather than local citizens utilizing their own vehicles, so do not be surprised if a yellow cab arrives to pick you up!
