Travel Note
Assisi, a charming medieval hill town in Umbria, Italy, is renowned as the birthplace of Saint Francis, the founder of the Franciscan Order. Assisi is a major pilgrimage site for Catholics, boasting a rich history, art, and architecture, including the iconic Basilica di San Francesco. Assisi's narrow, winding streets and city walls reflect its medieval past, creating a picturesque and historic atmosphere. Situated on the western flank of Monte Subasio, the town offers panoramic views of the surrounding Umbrian hills and valleys. Guests can expect sharp and steep changes in terrain, several stair sets, and limited parking accessibility. With that comes challenges for those with limited mobility, so please keep that in mind when sorting out accommodations.

As the largest and busiest airport in Italy, FCO serves as the most common destination for most U.S. air carriers. From there, Assisi is a two and a half hours drive northeast. Most major car rental companies are available for booking at FCO.

Although a smaller airport, FLR still serves an array of both European and International Airlines and is located just over one hundred miles or two hours drive from Assisi.
Flight
PEG is a medium-sized international airport serving Perugia and the surrounding area of Umbria, Italy. While this serves as the closest international airport situated a mere eight miles from Assisi, its limited routing and carriers which serve it would require multiple flights of air travel to reach it. Consider Ryanair when searching for connecting flights from other major international airports like London, Brussels, and Barcelona.
