We Eloped! Read our FAQs

About two weeks before our scheduled wedding date, we decided to elope the weekend that we had a Rocky Mountain National Park camping trip planned. However, rain was predicted for four days straight that weekend, so we decided to not go camping after all, but instead go to White Ranch Open Space Park in Golden, one of our FAVORITE places, because it's closer and we could plan our elopement around the weather. We hauled our supplies in our folding wagon and found a lovely spot under a tree, close to where we had a picnic on the 4th of July a few weeks earlier. We took video of our vow exchange, using David's field mic to pick up audio clearly, and afterwards took a bunch of photos! This was an adventurous process itself: Allie told David where to stand, and she set the timer and ran into the photos to pose with him. Her camera only allows 10 continuous shots at a time, so taking photos consisted of a lot of focusing the lens, running, and having 3 seconds to act natural before shots were taken. :) When we got to the car, we wrote "Just Married" on the back window with chalk markers, and David added his aluminum can "train" for the back of the car. As we were taking a selfie of us with our car in the background, a kind stranger pleaded to take our picture. Multiple hikers congratulated us and wished us well, including two adorable kids on bicycles. As David drove out of the parking lot, the cans clinked and clanked, making a raucous, telling the world "we're married!". Unfortunately, we lost a can a few minutes into our drive, so we stopped and pulled the cans back in the car. It began raining shortly into our drive home, and although our "Just Married" sign was getting wet, we still received some waves, smiles, and thumbs up signs from people in cars as they drove by us. Ideally we would have loved to go to a brewery with an outdoor beer garden, but due to the rain, we simply went home and relaxed for the rest of the day; our first day as a married couple!
