We've taken Amtrak several times. This is a great option for those traveling from the Chicago area. Amtrak will get you as far as La Crosse, Wisconsin. It's about an hour from La Crosse to Decorah. If any plan to travel by Amtrak, please plan to rent a car to navigate to and around Decorah.

Minneapolis - St. Paul Airport

MSP Airport is roughly 3 hours from Decorah. If traveling into Minneapolis, we recommend renting a car for your stay.

If you plan to travel from: Chicago, please expect to drive at least 5 hours via I-90 West or US-20 West. Minneapolis, please expect to drive about 3 hours via US-52 South or I-35 South. Rochester, Minnesota, please expect to drive about 1 hour and 15 minutes via US-52. La Crosse, Wisconsin, please expect to drive about 1 hour via MN-44 West and Locust Road.
