In 2018, Aaron was a brand-new teacher, figuring out his first year in the classroom. Angel was a special education paraprofessional who pushed into his class to support students. Angel had the intention of keeping things professional, until Aaron decided it was a great idea to launch her water bottle across the room from his whiteboard ledge. The students, of course, had opinions. Angel turned to them and asked, “Should Mr. Carmichael owe Miss Angel a whole pack of water bottles?” From that moment forward, Aaron has been buying Angel water bottles every week and hasn’t stopped. Their friendship grew over the years, filled with laughter, endless conversations, and Aaron’s relentless persistence (sometimes double… okay, maybe even quadruple texting) until Angel finally responded. As time passed, they grew more comfortable, opened up to one another, and discovered that what started as friendship was becoming something more. Now, they’ve built a home together with Angel’s daughter, Scarlette, and their little zoo of beloved pets: Honey the cat, Jameson the pug, Michelangelo the tortoise, Spyro the bearded dragon, and a (somewhat) impressive tank of fish. They are beyond excited to write the next chapter of their story, this time as husband and wife, and to continue their adventures together.
