We had met through mutual friends a few times during high school, but we did not know each other well. After high school graduation, we kept running into each other at friend's graduation parties. We exchanged numbers, started to talk and went for our first date shortly after in the parking lot of a Starbucks (because the Starbucks ended up being closed). At the end of the summer, we both were off to college - Adam in Milwaukee and Allie in Madison. We decided that there was something special and thus the beginning of many Badger bus rides to visit each other.

We were in Three Lakes, WI for a fall weekend at Adam's cabin. On the morning of the engagement, we went to Cranberry Fest in Eagle River with Adam's parents and then headed back to the cabin. Adam suggested to go on a boat ride upon getting back, so we ventured out on the lake. As we were heading back to the dock, Adam asked Allie to go in the front of the boat to catch the dock. When Allie was turned around, Adam turned off the boat, came to the front and got down on one knee! (All the while, Adam's mom was hiding in the woods on shore taking pictures of everything!) Adam also surprised Allie by having her parents drive up to Three Lakes to celebrate along with his parents! That night, we all went out for a celebratory dinner - champagne and all!
