Jon and Alyssa met one fateful night at Iggy's Bar Run Club on the Upper East Side. Both joined the group to find community in their new neighborhood, but didn't know they would also find their soulmate. The night they met, Alyssa played trivia with Jon's group after the run and was added to the group text. Jon took her number and immediately texted on the side before she made it the long 5 blocks home. Although they started as friends, Jon told his friend at coffee the next morning that he met an incredible girl at run club. Later that fall, Alyssa hosted a party to watch the marathon and Jon came over early to help open her windows, a job he has now been joyfully tasked with for the rest of his life. They immediately bonded over their shared love of music and knew that a romantic relationship was imminent. On their first date, they went to the Pony Bar and realized that in addition to sharing interests, they both shared aligned values and were of the belief that family is the most important thing on this earth. Both are extremely devoted to their families, and discussed what a life together would look like. She asked Jon if he was serious about this relationship, and he said "Very." As a testament to that promise, exactly one year later he asked her to marry him outside that very bar.
