We first met through our mutual friend Kellen, Alicia’s friend since kindergarten and Evan’s college roommate. After a quick hello at Kellen's mom Polly’s retirement party, nothing happened until months later on New Year’s Eve in Seattle, where we talked all night and somehow ended up at a four-story house on Lake Sammamish. No kiss, no romance, but certainly a spark. A month later, Evan was in San Francisco and met Alicia for what was supposed to be a quick happy hour. It turned into a night of ski ball and pop-a-shot, dinner, karaoke, and a duet of 'Drift Away' by Uncle Kracker. While dancing afterward, finally, our first kiss. We spent the next year and a half doing long-distance between San Francisco, Thousand Oaks, and Portland. There were many flights, concerts, FaceTimes, and weekend trips before Alicia moved to Lake Oswego in 2020. Since then: a duplex, a house, and a life that feels like home. The proposal happened at Mirror Lake in Mt. Hood National Forest in rain, slushy snow, with a hidden photographer, happy tears, and a surprise engagement party waiting back in town. These days, we snowboard, throw axes, play video games, watch movies, listen to records, open a bottle of wine (or two), travel, and laugh a lot. And we can’t wait for what’s next!
