Rach and Abe had known each other since sixth grade in Linden, NJ, but it wasn’t until high school that they admitted they liked each other. It all started when Rach dropped Abe’s cousin, Hassan, off after a soccer game. She casually mentioned she thought Abe was cute, and Hassan passed the word along. Soon after, Abe invited Rach to his football game. That night, as they drove home, he waited until everyone else got out of the car and kissed her, sweaty and all, leaving her with a face full of football blackout. Talk about bold! A week later, before Rach left for a family vacation to Mexico, she met up with Abe to say bye, and their first official picture was taken in the parking lot of Linden train station. Fast forward to December 10. It’s Rach’s best friend Makayla’s 18th birthday party. It was Rach and Abe’s first party together. As they danced to “Work” by Rihanna, Abe whispered in Rach’s ear and asked her to be his official girlfriend. And just like that, the next 10 years began. Their relationship wasn’t easy. They were two young kids, balancing their college lives and athletic careers. There were plenty of challenges, but also many victories and moments of pure happiness. Before long, they were celebrating their 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th anniversaries, with Abe finally proposing on their 7th. As an engaged couple, Rach and Abe faced more adulting challenges, but they also started building a life together. They bought their first home, adopted a dog (shoutout Zoomy!), and felt on top of the world. And then, they couldn’t wait any longer. On September 5, 2025, they got legally married. Now, as they celebrate 10 years of love and their first year as a married couple, they’re surrounded by the people who mean the most to them—including you! And they couldn’t be more excited. Thank you for supporting Rach and Abe, both as a couple and as individuals. Navigating a relationship this long at a young age isn’t easy, but with your love, support, and encouragement, they’ve made it. Just two kids from Linden—a Brazilian-Portuguese girl and a Liberian boy. A Catholic girl and a Muslim boy. A girl who loves a boy, and a boy who loves a girl, saying "I do" to forever.
