Our Story

How we met: We met on a Saturday afternoon in Jan 2023 when Zoe took her book to a local cocktail bar to drink a glass of wine and enjoy a few chapters of her book. After two glasses of wine and two hours of reading, she closed her book, and the charming bartender sauntered over to drop off the check. After realizing we had both recently relocated to Ellensburg and shared difficulty finding friends our own age in a town with youthful college students (a decade our junior) and crusty old farmers (several decades our senior), the charming bartender introduced himself as Dylan and dropped the line of the century, "Well it looks like you have a lot of that book left to read; you should probably come back". We exchanged smiles and farewells. And Zoe never went back. But never fear, two months later, Zoe approached this charming bartender at the gym, tapped him on the shoulder, and said, "You're Dylan". He quickly stood and replied, "How do I know you?!". She replied softly, "I am the girl with the book". With some urgency, his eyes went wide, and he yelped, "You're Zoe!! I promised myself if I ever saw you again, I'd ask for your number. If you wanted to go get dinner sometime, that would be sick." A smile spread across Zoe's face. "Yeah... that'd be...'sick'", she smirked. Fast forward to May 2024: After surprising Zoe with a romantic dinner, recreating the meal we had on their first date, served on a table Dylan *built* for our patio, Dylan said, "I have one more surprise for you". Dylan, with the support of both of our families, proposed to Zoe in their backyard with his mother's ring, a sacred symbol of the steadfast marriage his parents shared. Since then: We bought a house! We got chickens and a dog! We have traveled across the country and internationally! Dylan quit his job and went back to school! Through the highs and the lows, our love for one another has grown deeper. It fills us with joy to prepare to commit our lives to one another and build a life as a family. To celebrate, we are planning a more intimate ceremony and reception in Boise with our families and our wedding party. To celebrate with the extended family in Texas, we are planning a more casual, larger reception in Texas. With glee, we await these celebrations and thank y'all for your support. Love, Future Mr and Mrs Mumbach
