Abin ever the charmer, wasted no time convincing Shannan it was in her best interest to go on a blind date, soon after matching on the popular dating app, Hinge. His unparalleled confidence, evident in their brief banter on the app, not only set him apart but also left her quietly amused and intrigued. So the pair headed to Loro, a Fusion of Eastern Asian cuisine and traditional Texas Barbeque, to watch the Dallas Mavericks take on the Minnesota Timberwolves for Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals. But much like the Mavs in their Journey to the championship that year, the night had its fair share of mishaps. Rushing to her after a close friend's wedding, Abin arrived at their first date late with flowers left behind in the backseat of his car, leaving Shannan reeling from their initial encounter with feelings of disappointment from the rise of a once-hopeful relationship. Some time later, Shannan experienced a difficult family life event that shook the core of her world, so she reached out again with the intention of putting their brief story to a graceful end. But Abin managed to leave her speechless, this time in a more positive light, arriving more than 30 minutes early, flowers in hand, and a playful presence that could only be described as a welcomed change after a hard couple of days. Swept up by all the emotions and the complete 180 from date two, the duo continued to say yes to more dates.
