You Are The Best Thing That's Ever Been Mine

Ascher and Abby met the old fashioned way - on a dating app called Hinge. One lucky day, Ascher received a like from Abby, who rarely made the first move. He thought she was a total babe (his words), so he immediately reached out in typical Ascher fashion (with a pun) and quickly asked Abby on a date. She accepted due to his fun conversation and humor (and of course, his ruggedly good looks...Ascher definitely didn't write this).

The first date took place at Mizu Izakaya in Denver. Ascher did not make the best first impression as he showed up late and started chugging water (she thought maybe he was just nervous), but he redeemed himself throughout the date by eventually being his charming self. Trying to impress Abby, he unknowingly ordered a $200 bottle of sake for them to share, although she never knew the price until he told her much later. They bonded over the terrible ending of Game of Thrones and comparing travel stories. Abby left the date somewhat unsure how it went, due to Ascher being a weirdo at the beginning. However, once Ascher got home, he texted her to apologize and admit that he was hungover - and also a little nervous because he wanted to impress her and knew he was not operating at 100%. He told her that she was a real catch and he was very interested in another date to get to know her better. Of course, Abby decided to give him another chance, because Ascher was so handsome and endearing. Date two was at Upstairs Circus making cool crafts - it went incredibly well (according to both parties) - and the rest is history!

This love story would not be complete without mentioning the dogs! Abby's dog Pippin and Ascher's dog Peyton became the best of friends instantly. Each of them has been through a lot with their respective humans, and bringing the four-legged members of the family together was an important part of the tale! Ascher would like to note that Peyton is the alpha - Abby pleads the fifth.

Abby and Ascher have traveled all over the world together! Their first big trip was to New Zealand where they went paragliding, explored glow worm caves, visited geothermal wonders, and went on an adventure to Hobbiton! Since then, Ascher and Abby have been on many more journeys - to the Baltics, Iceland, the Caribbean, and more. These shared experiences have brought them even closer together, and travel is a major shared interest.

Abby moved in with Ascher a bit earlier than expected due to some water damage at her house, but everything felt so natural. They enjoyed walking South Pearl Street and visiting some of their favorite restaurants, like Jack's on Pearl and Sushi Den. It was a bit of an adjustment for Pippin not having a backyard anymore, but everyone made some amazing memories at the townhouse on Pearl Street!

Ascher is an excellent planner and worked with an amazing jeweler, Acredo, to design Abby's perfect engagement ring. Abby gave a little bit of guidance and inspiration, but Ascher handled everything else. He then reserved the entire bottom floor of the couple's favorite restaurant, Jack's on Pearl, for the proposal. When Abby and Ascher walked into the restaurant she thought it was a little odd that it was empty - but it was early, so she shrugged it off. The restaurant also began to play "Lover" by Taylor Swift when the couple entered, and Abby even nudged Ascher to note that they were "playing Taylor." They were led to a table that already had champagne glasses and custom menus with their names on them. Abby turned around and Ascher was down on one knee. They shared a lovely meal and then Ascher surprised Abby with all of their friends at Platt Park Brewery just down the road! It was a perfect night.

As it turns out, the morning prior to the proposal, Abby and Ascher toured their forever home! While they loved Pearl Street, they needed more space (and a backyard for the dogs), so, once the sale on Abby's house was finalized, they started looking for a new home! Ultimately, Ascher and Abby moved just a few miles South, into Englewood. They are still close to all of their favorite spots, but now they have more privacy and plenty of space for friends and family to visit. They are absolutely in love with the new crib!
