It was a warm May evening in 2023 when our paths first crossed. Ben was working as a manager at Tacos 4 Life, and Abby was spending time with her college friend, Kaitlyn Bolton. Their plans changed at the last minute, and they decided to go out for dinner. They ended up at Tacos 4 Life — even though it wasn’t Abby’s favorite place, it was still a good choice. As soon as Abby walked in, she couldn’t help but notice a very cute guy behind the register. She immediately told Kaitlyn her thoughts, not realizing that Ben and his cousin Donte Baker (who worked together) had a little “code” for when a cute girl walked in. Ben, spotting Abby, called out “10-8” and made his way over to the register. Abby, a little flustered, ordered but forgot to ask for queso. Ben, ever the attentive worker, checked in on their table more than a few times throughout the evening. After spending some quality time with Kaitlyn, Abby decided to leave a note with her phone number for Ben. To make sure it didn’t end up in the trash, she asked a guy who was bussing tables to pass it along. What she didn’t realize was that she had just asked Ben’s cousin Donte for help. Donte, being a good wingman, gave Abby a little speech about how great of a guy Ben was — and by the end of it, Abby was sold. A few minutes later, Ben came out to talk for a moment, and later that night, he texted Abby. Their first date was an easy four mile walk at Two Rivers Park with Ben’s dog, Nala. From that time on, they spent countless hours walking or running at Two Rivers, enjoying sunny lake days, taking road trips to Fayetteville, spending their evenings cooking new recipes, and making lasting memories with dear friends. Along the way, they added a new puppy, Oakley, to their family and even took a trip to the Bahamas — where Ben proposed to Abby at her favorite place in the world. Looking back, we see God’s plan unfold in such a beautiful way by bringing two strangers together through a change of plans and a new position at a temporary store! We are so thankful for our friends and family who have invested into our relationship and prayed for us during our time of dating, engagement and now for our marriage. We are so excited to see all that the Lord has in store for our life and our future family! Thank you, Jesus!
