End of the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center
As educators, we love an interpretive center! Visit a piece of history here at the end of the Oregon Trail.
Mt. Tabor Park
Mt. Tabor is a beautiful park to visit and walk around. This is where we got our engagement photos done! Parking is limited, so keep that in mind. The views are worth it though.
Pittock Mansion
There are several beautiful hiking trails that stem from the Pittock Mansion. Make sure to bring adequate water and snacks so you don’t pass out on the trail like Abby. Even if hiking isn’t your thing, the panoramic views are amazing!
Portland Japanese Garden
The Japanese garden is stunning at any time of the year! We love spending time here walking through the tranquility and taking in all the natural beauty. This is where you will find the famous Japanese maple tree that is in all the photos. However, the actual tree might be a little shorter than you'd expect. The garden is open Wednesdays through Mondays from 10 AM - 5:30 PM and tickets can be bought online for $22.
OMSI
Visit the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry for the day! We love to visit the permanent exhibits as well as explore whatever new exhibit is currently on display! Buy your tickets online since they do sell out. OMSI is open daily 9:30 AM - 5:30 PM (or 7 PM on Saturdays)
Oregon City Farmers Market
We love checking out and supporting our local farmer’s markets! The 2026 Summer Market Season runs every Saturday, 9:00am – 2:00pm. Customer parking is located in Green Lot 2 which includes several ADA spaces. Additional overflow parking is available on S. Douglas Loop, Blue Lots 1 and 2, plus Brown Lot.
Oregon Zoo
When in Portland, the zoo is always a fun thing to do! You can check in on Tula-Tu the baby elephant and much more! We make a point of spending a day at the zoo at least once if not a couple times a year. Remember to order your tickets ahead of time online. Open daily 9 AM - 6 PM
Sebastiano's
Sebastiano’s is a super cute Sicilian sandwich shop that we happened upon one day. They have lots of sandwiches, pastries and cool Sicilian sodas to try! It is also surrounded by thrift stores and other small shops that are fun to browse!
White Rabbit Book Cafe
We both love to read and a bookstore is one of our favorite places to be! White Rabbit is an independent book store that is full of exciting books, gits, and local art.
Willamette Jetboat Excursions
This is on our bucket list for sure! Located right next to OMSI, the jet boat is known as Portland’s ultimate river experience! Your choice of tours range from a 30 minute scenic river cruise to a 3 hour, 40 mile long adventure! Prices vary from $22-$84 per person depending on which tour you select. Be warned, you will get splashed.
