We grew up more than 5,000 miles apart. Abbie grew up in Iowa, and Srdjan grew up in Serbia. We come from completely different countries, customs and languages. Srdjan moved to the US by himself at 17 to finish high school in Naples, Florida. In 2020, he moved to Iowa for college after receiving a full-ride basketball scholarship, at the same time Abbie was moving AWAY from Iowa to go to college in Nebraska. In 2022, we both somehow ended up moving to Ames, Iowa to finish our degrees at Iowa State. At first, we only knew each other in passing. Abbie didn't know his name for months (just that he was cute). One summer night we ran into each other again at AJ's Ultralounge (arguably Ames' most questionable establishment). This was the last place either of us expected our story with our future spouse to begin! We hit it off and eventually began seeing more of each other. Fast forward a few years and we’ve traveled across the US and Europe, survived about ten moves, finished school, started new jobs, and became parents to three fur babies. We are so excited to celebrate our marriage on May 22 with all of our friends and family!
