We met while working at the Vestavia AMC. He was (and still is) the Facilities Manager and I was a bartender. We were immediately interested in the other, but both are extremely shy so neither said anything. All of our wonderful friends at AMC were trying so hard to push us towards each other, but we didn't start actively talking until COVID shut the movie theater down. There was a select few of us who closed the theater and Riley helped me shut the bar down before he focused on his part of closing the theater, I followed him around and tried to help him with what I could with his part. Our first time hanging out together outside of the theater was on my birthday right after we closed the theater. He came over to my grandmother's and we just sat on the couch and talked, we call that our first date and when we started our relationship. The first few dates we had after that we went to several hiking trails around Birmingham and had picnics that he packed, sandwiches and beer. We have taken several trips together, the first was to Colorado about four months after we started dating to see one of his best friends get married, we went back to Colorado to see them again and have gone on several weekend trips to Huntsville. I am the one who loves to travel, if I could spend my life traveling I would, Riley loves me enough to keep going with me lol. The rest is history, we talked daily and spent as much time together as possible. We got engaged on Christmas Eve surrounded by most of our immediate family, it was perfect and absolutely beautiful. Thank you for taking the time out of your day to read a brief history of how Riley and I came to be. -All the love, Riley and Abby
