Abigail and Relly met while serving on staff at Teen Valley Ranch in Plumtree, NC. After spending the summer serving and hanging out together, they realized that their friendship had potential to grow into something more. They spent some time getting to know each other more and on October 12, 2016, they went on their first date. Relly had written Abigail a letter where the first letter of each sentence spelled out a question... "Abigail Barefoot, will you be my girlfriend?". What happened from there is pretty obvious.

I knew that Abigail's favorite song was "September" by Earth, Wind, and Fire. Because of that, one year on the 21st of Septmeber, she wanted something special to happen. Using my interest in video, I wanted to make her proposal special by making a video just for her. I told her that we were going on a picnic dinner at Lake Wheeler. When we got there, we went down to the dock and I set up my camera for what she believed was a time lapse. I told her to open the cooler that was supposed to have the food in it, but there was an iPad with the video ready to watch. While she was watching the video, I whipped out my drone and flew it up with the ring attached to the bottom. At the end of the video, I had the script I had written for the video on the screen. Just like our first date, she put together the first letter of each sentence, "Will you marry me?". While this was going on, I flew the drone down for her to catch. I took the ring off, got on one knew, and asked her myself, "Will you marry me?" Obviously, she said yes! From there, I surprised her by taking her to her parent's house where a bunch of her close family and friends were waiting. We spent the night celebrating our next adventure. Hopefully, she will always remember the 21st night of September.
