How We Met

Back in 2012, Abby and Michael were fortunately on the dating website OkCupid at the same time. Michael messaged Abby about one of her favorite movies, Harold and Maude. Although he had the band Phish listed under his favorite music, Abby thought it was cute how he included pictures of him and his family, so she responded back. They talked with each other daily for a few weeks before they decided to meet up. On December 7th, they went to Village Pizza for their first date, but they both barely ate any pizza because they were so nervous. After talking for a while and watching a few movies together, they realized how comfortable they were with each other and thus began our 6+ years of dating.

Why Pittsburgh?

After only about three months of dating, Abby went on a three month gap year trip to Northern India. While exploring a new country was exciting, Abby always looked forward to going to the closest internet cafe to check her emails to see what Michael was up to. Sometimes, if they were lucky, Abby would go to the internet cafe early in the morning and be able to Skype with Michael while it was late at night in the States. After three months of excitement, Abby returned home, but had to leave for college a few months later. She enrolled at the University of Pittsburgh for her sophomore year and had to leave Michael again. Fortunately, Michael came to visit her two or three times each school year. They both enjoyed going to different museums, eating yummy food, and drinking yummy beers during these visits. Pittsburgh is one of their all time favorite cities and means a lot to them as a couple since it is where they would be reunited after months of being apart. They can't wait to share all of their favorite places with friends and family.

The Proposal

After a few years of dating, Abby and Michael both knew that they wanted to get married someday and would talk about it together. Abby would drop a couple of hints here and there, like by sending Michael the link to the ring she wanted, her ring size, and what color was best. On August 10, 2018, they took a road trip up to Provincetown to see one of their favorite drag queens perform at her summer show. After stopping for Box Lunch and checking into their Air BnB, they started wandering around the town center. Eventually, they ended up on a beach and Michael asked Abby to get married, to which she said yes. We are so excited to be planning this wedding and that you will be able to join us on our wedding day! See you in Pittsburgh!

Mawwiage

Thanks to Covid, we kinda eloped on April 22, 2020! With only a few close family members in attendance, we held a quick, socially distanced ceremony on the Middletown Green. Although we're already officially married, we still look forward to celebrating with more people in June of 2021!
