Nine years and 364 days prior to this photo, I found myself standing next to Abigail Blonigen in a cow pasture. Fourth of July in Stearns County, Grain Belt Premium, fireworks over Pine Lake. I was very much not seeking out the love of my life. A friend of hers pushed her into me. And so we grew together, inspired each other, and pushed each other to our best. We spent a semester on separate continents, a summer in a 250 square foot apartment, three long years traveling the 5 hour journey from Fargo to Duluth, we saw the world together, we saw the world in each other. One afternoon six years ago, I asked her if she’d be interested in driving 7 hours to Chicago for a long weekend. Our first big adventure. “When do we leave?” “As soon as I get home.” Impulsive! On the 364th day of our ninth year, we found ourselves in the city once again. I asked Abigail to marry me. I didn’t want to say it took me 10 years. She said yes. Our story begins down a dusty forlorn pathway where some farmer’s cows graze and runs all the way to where the nation converges on some great lake into a big tangle of a city. I love that. I love us. I love you. Here’s to next, here’s to now. - Jordan
