Although Abigail and I had crossed paths throughout elementary and middle school, it wasn't until my sophomore year of high school in 2019 that we truly met. She was the lead in the school musical, and I was the guy running the tech booth- the classic 90’s movie rom-com. From the moment I met her, I had a crush on her, and it stayed with me throughout the pandemic, lasting until we finally returned to in-person school in my junior year. October 11, 2021 I finally asked Abigail on a date… she said yes. Though I was nervous, we talked for hours, and it felt like I had always known her. After that, we became practically inseparable. We spent our time watching nature documentaries, sharing blankets at high school football games, and stargazing together. One day, Abigail texted me in a panic, worried no one would buy her bake sale cookies, I rushed over and bought every single one, despite her insisting they didn’t turn out well. As I stood there eating what I believe was my fourth or fifth cookie (assuring her they were perfectly edible) Abigail pulled from her bag my favorite book that I had lent her a few days prior, filled with sticky notes of her thoughts on every page. I think that might have been when I knew. We spent more and more time together, both in and out of school, and before long, people started to notice, with even our theater director asking if we were a couple. Though by now I knew I was in love with her, Abigail beat me to the question. On the opening night of our high school drama club show (December 2, 2021), Abigail handed me a letter and asked me to wait until the show started to open it. On December 2, 2021 Abigail asked me to be her boyfriend... I said yes. I was over the moon and couldn’t wait to see her again. Since then, the past three years have been some of the happiest of my life, filled with cozy coffee dates, movie nights, and endless debates about whether white or colored Christmas lights are better. On October 27, 2024, I proposed to Abigail… she said yes.
