How We Met

We both attended IUPUI and were part of a college ministry during school. At one of the conferences, a group of students were playing the card game nertz. I didn't know how to play, so Dillon offered to be my partner and teach me. We played a few rounds together before he mentioned how we lived in the same apartment building and should drive together to some of the ministry events. I had thought that sounded like a good idea, especially because my car was having some "problems" lately. The group of us playing nertz decided to go for a late-night run to Waffle House. I hopped in Dillon's car and he drove us there. Once we got back to where the conference was being held, Dillon handed me his phone and said I should probably give him my number if I still want to carpool to ministry events together; so I put my number in his phone. At this time, we had unknowingly been attending the same church. I had some friends that also lived in our apartment building and would go attend service with them when I wasn't serving in the children's ministry. Ironically, my friends were neighbors with Dillon and he had also gone to church with them before. Once we made this connection, we thought we would all go to church together sometime. A few days/weeks later, my car was still having "problems." I texted Dillon to see if he'd be willing to drive me to church early so I could serve in the children's ministry and then all of us could attend the service after. Dillon was kind enough to drive me early and sit through two services. (Truth is, my car was having minor problems. I could have totally driven myself but just wanted to spend some time with Dillon.). The next day, I got a text from Dillon asking if I would want to hang out sometime. I absolutely said yes, so we made plans to go for a walk on the canal. I've walked the canal many times, but this was by far my favorite walk. I talked his ear off the entire walk; it's been two years and I'm still talking his ear off. It's been such a blessing to see how the Lord has orchestrated our relationship. We are forever grateful to Him for crossing our paths and look forward to all He has in store for us as we take on life as husband and wife!
