We officially met in March of 2014 through mutual friends. Despite being only 15 & 16 years old at the time, we were instantly interested in each other. Our story begins about 9 months earlier than that, however, when Abby first saw Cole puttering around uptown Butte with his friends during Evel Knievel Days. From that point on, Abby had a major crush and kept close tabs on Cole, even though he didn't even know she existed yet. After few months of getting to know each other and finding many shared interests, Cole asked Abby to be his girlfriend on July 14th, 2014 after a night of hanging out. We were both busy being 3 sport athletes at rival high schools, but made plenty of time for cheering each other on, attending high school dances together, and having a weekly cone Wednesday date to Bonanza Freeze. In the fall of 2016, Cole packed up and moved to Dillon to play football & attend Montana Western, turning the relationship into one of distance. The next fall (2017), Abby packed up and moved to Missoula for school/track and field at The University of Montana. The 1 hour drive to see each other turned into a 2.5 hour drive while we both pursued our college dreams. Making more road trips than we could ever count, we enjoyed several sporting events, trips home to Butte, country concerts, nights at the Metlen, and time spent together with friends in Dillon & Missoula. Following college, we moved into a crumby apartment together in uptown Butte with our two dogs. We decided we liked living with each other enough that one year later, we bought our very first house together and took on several home projects to make it our own. On August 19th, 2023 - Cole (FINALLY) decided that after 9 years together, he wanted to make it official. Cole proposed at Abby's favorite place - Flathead Lake with all of her family there to celebrate.
