In July 2012, we spent a whole day getting to know each other while scraping paint off an old house in the full sun during one of our youth group trips in Lynchburg, VA. At the end of the day, there was more sweat, dirt, and sunburn than any sense of romantic sparks, but we had just made a new friend in one another, and that was pretty neat. This friendship grew over the remainder of our high school years. By the time Abi was getting ready to leave for college, apparently everyone at church, including AJ's sister, thought that there was something between us. As it turns out, they were onto something. Right before Abi came home for winter break, AJ reached out and we realized that we had liked each other for a while. When we decided to make this a thing, it was clear that we could have and probably should have gotten together way before this. After 6 years together (including 5 years of long distance and a study abroad), we moved in together during the summer of COVID. On Valentines Day 2021, we adopted our boxer/husky/lab Macy, and our family has been complete since. By Thanksgiving that year, both of us knew that the other had passed the dog mom/dad test, and AJ asked Abi's family for their blessing. With the help of her sister and a couple of friends, AJ proposed at Kozier Christmas Village a few weeks later. Since we were saving up for a house but were ready to do the "I do" thing, we had our micro-wedding with our immediate family and bridal party in the Meditation Garden at Abi's school on July 30, 2022. We closed on our house at the end of 2022, and now, 2+ years in, we’ve decided it’s time to celebrate this chapter with all of you. We're so glad to share this mini milestone with the people who have been part of our journey!
