If you have some extra time in Hamilton, take a stroll through Gage Park! It’s one of the city’s most beautiful parks, with gorgeous gardens, walking paths, and a classic fountain right in the middle. While you’re there, pop into the Gage Park Tropical Greenhouse for a little tropical escape. It’s filled with lush greenery and feels like a mini vacation even in the middle of the city 🌿 Cost: FREE! Additionally for the families with small children, Hamitlon Children’s Museum is located right beside the Park, offering a variety of interactive learning activities.
Fun fact: Hamilton is known as the “Waterfall Capital of Canada” and yes, it totally lives up to the hype! If you have some extra time, we recommend checking out a few of our favourites: Tew’s Falls, Felker’s Falls, Albion Falls, and Buttermilk Falls, or explore and find one of the many others hidden throughout the city! While you’re in town, take some time to explore the stunning Royal Botanical Gardens. With beautiful themed gardens, scenic walking trails, and gorgeous waterfront views, it’s the perfect spot for a relaxing afternoon (and some great photo ops!). Pro tip: After you’re done soaking in all the blooms, head offsite to Easterbrook’s Hotdog Stand! They have been serving up their iconic hot dogs for over 95 years and they’re a local favourite for a reason. Cost: Adult $20.00, Child $12.00
Step back in time with a visit to Dundurn Castle, a stunning 19th-century historic site overlooking the bay. This beautifully restored Italianate-style villa offers guided tours, gorgeous gardens, and some of the best views in the city. It’s the perfect spot for history lovers, architecture fans, or anyone who just wants a scenic stroll with a little old-world charm. Plus, the grounds are beautiful for photos. Cost: Guided tours are offered Tuesday-Sunday for $14.00 per adult.
If you’re looking to grab a coffee, fresh pastry, or a quick bite, check out the Hamilton Farmers’ Market! Located right downtown, this historic market has been a Hamilton staple for over 180 years. You’ll find everything from local produce and baked goods to international eats and handmade treats. It’s the perfect spot to wander, snack, and get a little taste of the city while you’re in town. Please note they are closed Sundays.
