Saddleback Ski Mountain is located within Rangeley and is approximately 15 minutes from downtown. They offer ski lift tickets for leaf peeping, mountain bikes for rent, hiking trails, and a full service restaurant and bar.

Sugarloaf Mountain

Sugarloaf Mountain is a ski mountain about 40 minutes from Rangeley. They may offer trips up the ski lift for leaf peeping; be sure to check their website in advance!

Bald Mountain

One of our favorites that is close to town: try this 3.8-mile out-and-back trail near Oquossoc, Maine. Moderate hike, takes an average of 2-3 hours to complete. Spectacular views!

Piazza Rock via Appalachian Trail

Get on the Appalachian Trail! 3.4-mile out-and-back trail near Rangeley, Maine. 2-3 hours. Easy to moderate. If you continue on this trail another 4 miles it will take you right up to Saddleback Mountain!

Tumbledown Mountain Trail

Approx 45 minutes from Rangeley, a truly unforgettable hike with plenty of rock and boulder scrambling and ladder rungs up to an alpine pond. 5.5-mile loop trail near Byron, Maine. This one is difficult but one of our favorites!

Located in Freeport (just outside of Portland) is L.L.Bean. Open 24 hours a day, it is a must-do every time we fly into Portland!

Great scenic 9 hole golf course in the woods located just outside Rangeley! Course operates on an honor system (~15$ cash) and has a ton of free clubs for use. There is no clubhouse, so don't forget balls!
