I was reconnecting with a friend from primary school after 20 whole years (yes, two decades š ), and he invited me to a surprise birthday party. Full transparency: I almost cancelled. But God said, āNot today.ā That night, I met a lot of people⦠but one guy stood out as he walked in. Picture this: glistening beard, green sweatshirt, and the confidence of someone who didnāt know he was about to change my life. He came over before the night ended, and we started talking about the research he was working on - an immediate nerd alert š¤. Surprisingly (or maybe not), I was hooked. The conversation was easy, refreshing, and felt like home. What followed was a love story built across miles of long distance, countless flights between San Francisco & Dallas, a road trip to Indianapolis, briefly surviving the damp weather of Washington state, and one very intense med school journey later, weāre getting married! I found my best friend, my biggest supporter, and the person whoās been cheering me on all the way to the finish line. Cheers to infinity, Onitemi!
I met Abi at a surprise birthday party organized for one of our friends. As I walked in, there she was, this beautiful, tall girl wearing a cute white lace top and blue jeans. Our mutual friend had invited her to catch up after many years since primary school, but little did I know that moment would change my life forever. I walked up to this beautiful angel and introduced myself. Talking to Abi was the easiest conversation I had ever had. We talked about everythingāscience, family, finance, life. She was fascinated by my Ph.D. research (yes, Jaggons made an appearance), and from that moment on, the connection just flowed effortlessly. Very quickly, I realized I might have found the love of my life. I had no idea how it would all work, especially since she lived in California, but I had faith and knew it was worth seeing through. Distance didnāt stop us. We stayed connected through every means possible: FaceTime, phone calls, text messages, short and long visits, road trips, in-person and FaceTime dates, video-call study sessions, and prayers together. The more I got to know Abi, the more I realized what an incredible human being she is and that I could wife this babe up someday. š Fast forward to July 16, 2025, I asked the biggest question of my life, and she said YES! It was the best moment of my life. I am so proud of us and how far weāve come. From our starting point to now, we have learned so much, been through thick and thin, and emerged stronger together. My Abibat. Ayaola. Eni bi okan mi. Olólùfįŗ¹Ģ mi. I couldnāt be more grateful for this journey and for the woman God has given me.
