No trip to New Orleans is complete without a visit to the French Quarter. This historic district is rich in history with gorgeous views, delicious food, and lots of fun to be had. Don't miss Jackson Square, an iconic and striking landmark with a charming cathedral backdrop and lovely garden. Restaurants to visit include: Sylvain (also great for drinks), Cafe Du Monde (beignets!), Cane and Table, Domenica, Cleo's (amazing Mediterranean), Central Grocery (for famed Muffulettas) and Tableau (great place for marinated crab claws, cocktails, and Jackson Square views). Recommended bars include: Molly's at the Market, Bar Tonique, and Lafitte's Blacksmith Bar.
This is a beautiful park with lots to see and do! It has numerous child-friendly offerings so we highly recommend it for families. There is a small (but very fun!) amusement park, mini golf, beignets, and gorgeous bayou vistas. It also houses the New Orleans Museum of Art and their sculpture garden (a must see!).
A truly unique zoo with a whole section all about Louisiana swamps. It is also conveniently located on Magazine Street uptown. We also highly recommend stopping at Audubon Park which is across the street! If you do decide to go to the park, Picnic Provisions and Whiskey is a great place to grab snacks for a park picnic. If you are driving back to the Quarter from the zoo, make sure to stop at Parasol's for the firecracker shrimp po-boy! Other delicious Uptown restaurants include: Pizza Domenica, Shaya, Juan's Flying Burrito, Bouligny Tavern, Lilette, Stein's Deli, Slim Goodies (breakfast diner), The Bulldog (lots of beers on tap), and Le Bon Temps Roule (not a restaurant but Abi's favorite dive bar). There are many other great places along Magazine as well so please reach out if you are wanting more uptown recommendations :)
This is a great place to sit outside, have a glass of wine, and listen to some live music. They can get busy so we recommend going during off hours!
