Abel and Val’s story began long before they realized it. Their families first connected years ago while working at the casino, forming friendships that brought them together often. Val’s Tia Carmen babysat Abel and his sister, and her Tio Chelo was Abel’s barber. Through these close family ties, Abel and Val occasionally crossed paths at family gatherings and birthday parties, playing together as children. Val even admits she always had a quiet childhood crush on him. As the years passed, their lives moved in different directions. Abel’s family relocated to Newington, while Val remained in Norwich, and the connection eventually faded into memory. Years later, during Val & Abel's first year of college, the two unexpectedly crossed paths again at a summer birthday party when a friend reintroduced them through Snapchat. Val instantly recognized a picture of him, and said “I know that kid.” What seemed like a simple moment soon became something more meaningful. After reconnecting through messages, their friendship quickly grew into something deeper. With faith, patience, and trust in God’s timing, their relationship unfolded naturally into the love they share today.. a beautiful reminder that some stories are written long before they begin.
