Once upon a time

A classic millennial love story that is how we see our relationship. Instead of meeting randomly at a bar, restaurant, or our hands touching as we grabbed the last bag of chips at the grocery store, it was more like the scrolling and clicks of a phone. We met on a dating site and we both knew looking at those classic bathroom mirror pics, selfies, and heavily filtered pictures we had to meet.

The First Date

Starbucks Love

The first date was in a public place for safety and to avoid the potential of being catfished as all modern-day romances start. The Starbucks was packed except for the two chairs Johana had pushed together in anticipation of her date being obese. To Johana’s relief or disappointment, her date was not obese, but just festively plump. A long thoughtful discussion was had over coffee and tea ranging from hobbies, goals, and jokes. Abel’s frequent trips to the restroom because of all the tea made Johana think he was trying to escape, but he came back every time. After hours of getting to know each other and feeling confident the other wasn’t a serial killer, Abel walked Johana to her car which at the time was essentially a toaster on wheels which she disclosed she only got because of the dancing hamsters on the commercial. The two said their goodbyes and parted knowing that they wanted to see each other again.

5 Years Later...

The Proposal

At this point over five years had passed since that fateful day in Starbucks. And now the millennial lovebirds found themselves in Peru celebrating Abel getting his Master’s Degree. The days flew by too quickly with all the fun which included 18-course meals, flying in an old aircraft as the pilots texted on their phones, eating guinea pigs, and taking in an amazing culture. Not even a bout of Montezuma’s Revenge could stop them from enjoying their time in Peru! Dawn rose on the last day they would be staying in that old Incan Palace. The city was quiet from all of the ebbing and flowing traffic and people moving throughout the streets. After the packing and the double-checking that everything was where it should be was done, Abel knew all that was left was to ask that one important question. After reliving some of the amazing sights of Peru, Abel told Johana that “There is only one thing missing”. Getting down to one knee, with the Incan ancestors looking down, Abel opened up the ring box he had carried all throughout Peru with him and asked that important question “will you marry me?” After what seemed like a lifetime of Johana thinking about it she said “yes” then snatched the ring out of the box and put it on her own finger. With the heavy responsibility off of his shoulders Abel tossed the ring box to Johana and said “Phew, that’s your responsibility now” and being very thoughtful like he always is Abel let Johana know that she had 30 days to change her mind because that was when the return period for the ring would expire. Excitement was in the air! Not only for the engagement but for the joy that would be shared with family and friends and planning the big day together!

Epilogue

And that brings us to today, family and friends. We are excited to celebrate this milestone with you all! It has been over 6 years in the making, but they have been amazing years. We hope that you know that we would not be here today without the love and support that all of you have given to us! We love you and can't wait to celebrate!
