We met at City Year Boston in 2010, when we were placed onto the same team. We quickly developed a friendship on our shared love of great music (John Legend and The Dirty Heads were our first concerts together). Our friendship grew into a relationship over the next couple of years, with travels around New England and trips to the farm being some of most cherished memories. Those first years would establish our love for travel and appreciation for nature and making places memorable by sharing experiences with family and friends. In 2013, Jasmin brought Abe to L.A. for his first trip to the city. It was a memorable trip and with some help from a California beach bonfire, churros, Jasmin’s friends (ask Sonia what she told Abe after his first Dodger’s game), a trip to Disneyland and a little tequila (ask Abe about singing karaoke at the end of his first day in L.A.) Abe knew that wherever Jasmin was is where he wanted to be. Fast forward to 2015, to the well wishes of family and friends (who had become family), we departed Boston -the city we had met and fallen in love in- to embark on an epic road trip that would cover 18 states and 5,176 miles. Some of our favorite memories from the road trip include seeing friends and family in Ohio, St. Louis, Memphis and Houston, partying it up in New Orleans, being speechless at the site of Monument Valley, and an unforgettable experience with a bug in a Texas state park. Through it all, our love grew with each mile and when we arrived in L.A. we knew that, together we could do anything.
Abe proposed to Jasmin at the Griffith Observatory on December 8, 2017. The lead up to the proposal starts in November, when Abe -wanting to break the news to his parents and Grammy- had the ring shipped to New Hampshire where he would be spending a few days before going on a work trip to Boston (ask Abe about how he shared the news with his parents). After sharing his intentions, he flew back to L.A. ring in tow. Later that week, Abe showed up to Jasmin’s home to get her parents blessing carrying some tequila and wine to secure their support. By the time the day of the proposal had come, Abe had planned each step of the evening, from the music (John Legend) to the exact spot he was going to ask the big question. On a peaceful evening, at the bend of a hiking path where a lit up L.A. laid in front of us and an illuminated Griffith Observatory set the backdrop, Abe shared his love for Jasmin and asked her to marry him. A gasp, a smile, and a kiss all led to her saying, “of course!”
